Casting directors are looking for images of men and women with the authority in their face to tell a story.

An effective headshot session will consider the actor’s strengths and interests.

The final 6 shots, which the actor selects from over 450, indicate the people they would like to play.

The experience gained from working with international directors (Peter Brook, Stephen Daldry, Marianne Elliot, Anatoly Vassiliev) as a production photographer has contributed to understanding how best to work with an actor. Over 40 years I have also documented actors in the 30 mins before their performance. This work has been published in 2 books (THE HALF 2009, TIME TO ACT 2020), and exhibited in London (NT and V&A), Stratford (RSC), NYC, Paris, Berlin and Beijing.
